WHAT IS SULFORAPHANE?

Sulforaphane is referred to by many health professionals as a panacea compound due to its beneficial effects across a very large number of health conditions. In fact, there are so many positives regarding its effects it would be daunting to cover them all in this space. It’s produced when the enzyme myrosinase transforms glucoraphinin (a glucosinolate), into sulforaphane upon damage to the plant. This is thought to be the plant’s survival defense against would-be predators. To the taste it is hot and spicy like a radish, which most likely is unpleasant to most insects and plant eaters. However, when humans eat sulforaphane it produces benefits to us almost beyond comprehension. Most of the studies using Sulforaphane were performed with a dose of 40-60 mg per day. That’s approximately 1 Punnet or 3 ozs of broccoli sprouts. Green ForceField utilizes organic Broccoli Sprouts and Broccoli Seeds to gain the highest source of Sulforaphane.   • Licorice Root may have help the fight against Coronavirus. According to the National Institute of Health, “Glycyrrhizin, an active component of liquorice root interferes with replication of SARS-associated coronavirus.”

 

  • Pycnogenol is the trade name for an extract of French maritime pine bark (Pinus pinaster). It is a natural source of several antioxidants including proanthocyanidins, which are also found in wine, grapes, apples, cocoa, tea, nuts, and some berries. Pycnogenol is often marketed as a supplement for heart and circulatory health and a variety of conditions, including menopause, chronic venous insufficiency, erectile dysfunction (ED), high blood pressure, inflammation, diabetes, and tinnitus (ringing in the ears).

  • Turmeric Root has very similar benefits as Sulforaphane when it comes to reduction in inflammation and is an incredible compound in other ways. It’s used as a powerful anti-inflammatory comparable to over-the-counter anti-inflammatory agents and prescription medications without the side-effects associated with those drugs. Reduction in inflammation from Turmeric Root leads to relief from joint pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis. There is reduced joint swelling and greater range of motion when used on a regular basis. Research also suggests turmeric may be helpful in treating (IBD) inflammatory bowel diseases, lowering cholesterol, protecting the heart, improving liver function, and even preventing Alzheimer's disease. Other benefits may include… Cancer prevention and reduction of cancer cell proliferation of the breast, colon, prostate, lung, and childhood leukemia. Turmeric Root is also high in many vitamins and minerals like Vitamin C, Manganese, Iron, Vitamin B6, Potassium, and Magnesium.

  • Watercress is a vitamin and mineral powerhouse. It has 18 vitamins and minerals in highly nutritive concentrations. It has more Vitamin C (72% RDA) than oranges, gives us over 300% of our RDA for Vitamin K, 64% of our RDA for Vitamin A, has more calcium than milk, and more iron than spinach. It's very high in vitamins and minerals like Vitamin C (133% of the RDI), Copper (85% of the RDI), Iron (23% of the RDI), Potassium (16% of the RDI), Vitamin B6 (15% of the RDI), and Manganese (10% of the RDI). ​Maca can improve symptoms of menopause, including hot flashes and disrupted sleep at night. It increases libido in men and women. Maca may improve your mental well-being and mood by reducing depression and anxiety, especially in menopausal women. It may boost sports performance and energy. Maca may improve brain function (25). In fact, it has traditionally been used by natives in Peru to improve children's performance in school (1, 26). In animal studies, maca has improved learning and memory in rodents that have memory impairment. Like Pumpkin Seeds, Maca may reduce prostate size. It has been proposed that the effect of maca on the prostate is linked to its high amount of glucosinolates. These substances are also associated with a reduced risk of prostate cancer. 

 

  • Cacao/Cocoa are true superfoods, containing more antioxidants than blueberries, in addition to a good amount of iron, calcium, and magnesium. Cacao is also the reason dark chocolate is considered to have health benefits—it's a notable source of flavonoids, which may have beneficial effects on cardiovascular health, and theobromine, a bitter alkaloid similar to caffeine thought to boost moods and energy.

 

  • Ginger has been shown to prevent the death of neurons in our brains and reduce oxidative stress caused by insufficient blood supply. Multiple studies show the effectiveness of ginger as a pain reliever and ability to ease nausea with reported effectiveness greater than the drug Dramamine. Studies also show ginger to fight ovarian, colorectal, lung, and breast cancers. It is also reported to be useful in preventing and treating arthritis. Ginger is a good source of Vitamin C, Magnesium, Potassium, Copper, and Manganese.

  • Ceylon Cinnamon is one of the strongest anti-oxidants in nature. Studies show its anti-cancer and cancer fighting abilities to be absolutely incredible. It gives powerful assistance in helping with health conditions such as diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and inflammation. It's shown to have Neurotropic and increased learning ability effects. Cinnamon consumption helps control blood sugar, since it helps diabetics deal with insulin sensitivity and glucose transport. Reduction of inflammation helps in this condition as well. In one study, 18 people with Type 2 diabetes participated in a 12-week trial, in which half the group took 1,000 milligrams (mg) of cassia cinnamon supplements and the other half a placebo. According to the study conclusion, all the subjects in the cinnamon group had a statistically significant decrease in their blood sugar levels comparable to oral medications available for diabetes.

  • Cloves are known for being the strongest antioxidant with the highest ORAC score. They have strong anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. This makes cloves great for boosting the immune system, fighting colds, and helping to prevent disease.

  • Nutmeg isn't often thought of as a super nutrient. However it has some properties that are very beneficial to human health. It's very high in Manganese, Magnesium, & Copper, which are needed for a myriad of functions in the body such as metabolizing carbohydrates, building strong bones & connective tissue, reducing oxidative stress to cells, and manufacturing hormones. Nutmeg is also a significant source of Potassium, A, B, & C Vitamins. It contains antioxidants and significant phytochemicals known to fight & prevent disease. As mention above, the enzyme myrosinase transforms glucoraphanin, a glucosinolate, into sulforaphane. Glucosinolates are broken down by myrosinase enzymes to produce isothiocyanates. Studies have shown that isothiocyanates may assist in preventing cancer by helping the body fight the formation of cancer cells. A recent study showed that Sinigrin, a glucosinolate in mustard seeds, possesses anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant, and wound-healing properties. When Sinigrin mixes with water, the myrosinase enzyme helps form a compound called "allyl isothiocyanate". This compound has been shown to aid in liver and pancreatic function as well as reduce risk of liver cancer.
